  1. Hi Babar Eid Mubarak. Just want to know about coming winter, Will it be like a normal winter season for karachi specially or it is going to be more than average. As lots of discussion about harsh winter for uk,europe as it was last year and the global cooling. Will this be effecting pakistan anyhow, As we have seen in the past 2 years weather in pakistan has also changed a lot. What do you say?

    1. Khair Mubarak ! So far there was a strong snowstorm in the U.S while a severe rainstorm in France, which made headlines, however there is no relationship between Europe and South Asia’s weather. Pak’s monsoon has become somewhat erratic since last few years but overall winter season is still behaving normally as per past records. Till the end of December, winter in Pak looks normal, the country already had a normal start to the onset days of winter with 7 WDs.

      1. Yes but if monsoon is behaving erratically and we have seen winter behaving normally but are there any chances of some abnormalities as we’ve been seeing this globally that weather is changing. So can we expect some winter disturbances here in pakistan too. And one more question will we be seeing some rains this winter in karachi.

      2. Karachi does get winter rains almost every year but they are mostly light and short lived with the exception of 2006. Looking at past history there had been not many severe winter events in Pakistan in winter with the months of November and December being calmer, this transition period is usually calm and dry with occasional WDs. However due to ENSO conditions, there does not seem to be any abnormality happening in these months atleast.
