Will Islamabad see a proper rain?
The first overall significant drop in temperature in the country has occurred on December 19 night, temperature will further drop during the last days/week of December as stated on the Facebook page during last week of November. Pakistan may continue to experience dry days as no ‘proper’ winter rains/snow is seen till the end of 2013 however isolated showers/rain activity cannot be ruled out! The dry weather has led to severe fog conditions over the plains of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Is there any rain coming?
A western disturbance is over Afghanistan that would start moving into the extreme northern areas of the country from tomorrow mid-day and then it will move into Jammu & Kashmir. During the weekend (December 21 and December 22), rain with thunder/lightning can occur in Islamabad, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Murree, Muzaffarabad and other adjoining cities, the northern strip of Punjab (Lahore, Sialkot, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala and adjoining cities) can experience increase in cloudy weather while the intensity of fog will surely decrease. There are slight chances of isolated shower with thunder/lightning in Sialkot, Gujranwala and Narowal district of Punjab as a weak thundercloud can be nearby. Isolated Heavy snowfall can occur over Astore and Diamer and surrounding areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and Kalam, Dasu and Naran of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Northern Balochistan and surrounding Khyber Pakhtunkhwa can experience some cloudy weather on December 21 and December 22 morning those cloud would move into central Punjab to dissipate.
No change, where?
Southern parts of the country will experience similar conditions, there can be a slight decrease in the foggy conditions in upper Sindh while Karachi can experience few clouds on the weekend with a slight possibility that sea breeze might be restored briefly for 24 hours, a further decrease in temperature may occur in the city (almost whole country) during the last days/week of December.
